76 is first movie to premier at both the Toronto and London Film Festivals

76 (formerly called Lions of ’76), an upcoming 2016 Nigerian historical fiction drama film produced by Adonaijah Owiriwa and Izu Ojukwu and directed by Izu Ojukwu, is set to become the first Nigerian movie to air on both the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the London Film Festival (LFF).

Inspired by true events, it is set in 1976, six years after the Nigerian civil war and tells the story of events that led to the assassination of the then Nigerian Head of State, Murtala Muhammed.

76 premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 11, 2016, and is set to premier at the BFI London Film Festival’s 60th anniversary edition at venues across the UK from October 5-16 2016.
